Accessible housing register

The Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea has carried out an access survey on most of the social housing within the borough. Information has been collected about the number of steps into the property, internal facilities and whether any adaptations have been made. The access information is then used to assign the property a category. This is called the Accessible Housing Category. Each category is calculated using published design guidance in accordance with the London Accessible Housing Register.

When a property becomes vacant the Accessible Housing Category and other access information will be included on the property advertisement that appears on Home Connections. Housing applicants with particular access needs can then identify properties that are likely to meet their needs.

All properties including wheelchair accessible properties will now be advertised on Home Connections. Successful bidders will still need to view the property before accepting a tenancy. Each property has been categorised to the best of our knowledge. RBKC has endeavoured to ensure the accuracy of the information displayed. However there may be features, such as adaptations, that were not brought to our attention that we were not able to include in the survey.
